The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge

I’m so sorry I haven’t posted in awhile guys (I lost my phone… well left it in the taxi). Anyway enough of that, hope your week is going well so far? I did a 2 hour walk in the rain and wind yesterday going up black hill (It’s not as scary as it sounds I promise!) with my dad, Elliott and pepper the dog. All in preparation for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge which takes place this Saturday (I am no prepared).

Soo what is the 3 peaks challenge you say? Basically it’s a 12 hour walk up 3 big hills (I am going to die boss it ) The route is 25-miles long, and includes 5,200ft (1,585m) of ascent. There is going to be 8 of us taking on this challenge and we will be stopping over night as it’s quite a travel away (We get a pint and pub food at the end though), we shall be setting off at 5.30am on Saturday morning to travel down and start our walk.

Now the cause we decided to raise money for is very important to my family. It’s for the MS society (Multiple sclerosis). What is MS? It is a disease which effects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Did you know that 100,000 people just in the UK are diagnosed with MS and it can start as early as 20. My Step-mums mum has this disease.

My step-mums story:

To help motivate me to get to the end I want to use this as a chance to raise some money for the MS Society. As you may know my mum suffers from MS, this has fundamentally changed both her and my Dad’s life as he is now her full time carer. People are aware of the physical effects of MS and many sufferers end up wheelchair bound. For my mum it has affected her both physically and mentally, similar to early onset of dementia, meaning she is mostly house bound as new people and places worry and confuse her. MS currently has no cure, and although there are some treatments that slow its progress there is a lot more that can be done. I would very much appreciate any support you can give to this excellent cause.

This challenge is going to be an extremely difficult one but it’s for a great cause due to so many people being diagnosed with this disease. All money raised will be going towards the MS society, here’s a little bit of information on what the community does for MS.

I would love for you to take part in helping us raise money for this community and supporting us along the way! Any donations would be appreciated.

Thanks you so much

Love, Caitlin
